Why It Matters
San Ysidro is the busiest land port of entry in the Western Hemisphere. SANDAG reports that more than 90,000 people cross northbound through the port on a typical day, and local reporting has documented holiday-weekend waits above three hours. BorderSmart focuses on the lane-level choices that can change that trip.
Wait times change in patterns. Friday afternoon does not look like Tuesday morning, and holiday periods behave differently from regular weekdays. BorderSmart combines public border wait-time data, historical patterns, traffic context, and optional crossing reports to estimate what the next few hours may look like, not just what the line looks like right now.
Add a crossing-window alert and you do not have to sit near the border refreshing the app. BorderSmart can tell you when a lane looks better than usual or when the wait becomes unusually heavy.
BorderSmart is free, requires no account, and works on both iOS and Android. Getting started takes under two minutes.
